Northern Orange Republican Women: Conservative Voices in Orange County, NC

We are looking for rural voices, the kind your ancestors expect of you. Orange county houses some of the most conservative voices in NC, yet because such hard working folks are up to their necks in work and taxes, they do not have much time for civic engagement, the kind our grandparents engaged in. If they're not working a second job, they're out in the field working the earth.

The book Bowling Alone acknowledges that civic engagement has dropped precipitously since the 1950s. The know variable, attributed in three longitudinal studies? Television. That's right; we have lost control and concern for our country because of decades of TV. Do you really want to go to your grave as one of these statistics? I don't.

Our fledgling group, the Northern Orange Republican Women is a start. We take our place among all these new groups, PACS, organizations, NGOs, non-profits, you-name-it causes. But the one thing that sets us apart from many modern organizations - now in the millions annually - is that we actually meet in person. Our entity is not about virtual connections, solely. We like to get up close and personal, talk, and try to engage ourselves in the community in positive ways. We're open to innovation and choose to take a proactive approach, and we're not afraid to stand up for Republican values and tell you why we believe these traditional standards - low taxes, strong defense, 2nd Amendment rights, Judeo-Christian values, take care of our military, and "get out of my life government" are better. That is what America is about, and we believe these tenets are far from over and very worth fighting for.
